Privacy Policy
What CAET Mentors collects, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Pending legal review
This policy is written to describe accurately what the platform does. It is not legal advice, and it has not been reviewed by a qualified data protection lawyer. If you are the operator of this site, obtain that review before launch.
What we collect
We collect only what the platform needs to work:
- Account details — your name, email address, and mobile number if you give one.
- Academic details — your class, academic session, the exams you are preparing for and the subjects you are interested in. This is what scopes the site to you.
- Activity — which material you opened, which practice sets you attempted and your answers, so your progress and accuracy can be shown back to you.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type and timestamps, recorded with sign-in attempts and material access for security and abuse prevention.
Why we collect it
To create and secure your account, to show you content scoped to your exams and subjects, to record and display your progress, to send the emails described below, and to detect misuse such as credential-stuffing or bulk downloading of material.
Email we send
A one-time code to verify your email address at registration, and codes for password resets. These are required for the account to function and cannot be opted out of while the account exists.
Notifications about new material in your subjects, which you can turn off in your profile at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.
We use third parties only where the platform cannot function without them — currently an email delivery provider, which receives your email address in order to deliver a message, and our hosting provider, which stores the data. We may disclose data where a law or a valid legal order requires it.
Cookies and tracking
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, a security token to protect forms, and a small preference cookie recording whether you chose the light or dark theme. That preference never leaves your browser.
We do not run third-party advertising or behavioural tracking scripts.
How long we keep it
Account and academic data are kept while your account is open. Verification codes expire within minutes and are deleted. Security logs of sign-in attempts and material access are kept for a limited period for abuse investigation and then removed. When you delete your account we remove your personal data, retaining only what a legal obligation requires.
Students under 18
This platform is used by school students, many of whom are minors. We collect no more from a minor than from any other user, we show them no advertising, and we do not profile them for marketing. A parent or guardian may contact us to see, correct or delete their child's data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act — you may have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- have inaccurate details corrected, most of which you can edit yourself in your profile
- ask for your account and personal data to be deleted
- withdraw consent to optional processing, such as notification emails
- complain to the data protection authority in your jurisdiction
To exercise any of these, write to the address on our contact page.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are stored hashed, never in a recoverable form. Staff and student accounts are separate systems with separate credentials, so an administrative compromise does not expose student sign-ins, and access to student records is limited to the staff roles that need it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page. Where a change is material we will tell registered users by email rather than relying on you to re-read it.
This policy describes our current practices. It is a plain-language draft and has not yet been reviewed by a qualified lawyer in the UAE or India — see the notice below.
